After School Care

2.50pm - 6.30pm

Every afternoon, a staff member collects our Kindergarten children and accompanies them to our program room whilst children in years 1-6 make their own way up. We mark the roll, facilitate a toilet run and then serve Afternoon Tea, after which we move onto our programmed activities.

The Mind, body & spirit

At Playhouse OSHC, we ensure there is a good balance of mental, physical and spiritual activities in our programs. Mind-body-spirit practices that teach awareness and mindful movement can reduce stress, offer playful opportunities for growth and learning, and provide a foundation for a healthy life.

Each group in After School Care is assigned a Lead Educator and engages in one active and one passive play activity every afternoon. Activities are planned around the interests, needs and abilities of the children. Some of the activities this term have included:

  • Trivia
  • Group Games
  • Puzzle Mania
  • Children's Yoga
  • Meditation and Quiet Spaces
  • Team Sports
  • Minute-to-Win-it games
  • Science Experiments
  • STEM Challenges
  • Self-reflection
Being physically active is good for children’s health, as well as being a great way for them to make new friends and develop physical and social skills. Children should be exposed to all kinds of physical activity and understand its health benefits.
